  2. The third album from the mighty Rose Royce – working here in perfect hit formation – with older styles of harmony soul wrapped around some of the best late 70s mainstream funk modes – all produced to perfection by the mighty Norman Whitfield! Whitfield 's guidance of the group is maybe even stronger here than in the group's Motown years – as he balances funky and righteous elements.

  4. LP, Vinyl record album (Small blue label Bill Grauer Productions pressing, RLP , with microphone logo & deep groove. Vinyl has some light marks, but sounds pretty nice – especially after the first few spins of each side – just a few light crackles at the start.).
  5. Mark Whitfield's Wes Montgomery-like solo on "Girl Talk" is the best guitar interlude on the CD. "After Hours" features Brother Jack on the piano, and his playing is spare but intensely bluesy. I love his interpretation of this well-known tune.
  6. The vocals on "Patrice" are pleasant enough, as is Whitfield, but it seems out of place here. Whitfield puts in a fine solo performance on "Midnight Sun", but he is doesn't sound completely comfortable in this setting. "David's Theme" is the definitive Whitfield song on the album/5(4).
  7. There's only 5 tracks on the album – and the focus is on solo work by Hamp and Getz, with rhythm by Lou Levy, Leroy Vinnegar, and Shelly Manne. Titles include "Louise", "Jumpin At The Woodside", "Gladys", and a long ballad medley. Nice David Stone Martin cover, too! LP, Vinyl record album.
